Yamaha Schools in the UK
Yamaha Music School
Yamaha Music School (YMS) is central to Yamaha's global strategy for music education. Its courses and teaching system were first introduced in the 1950s by the Yamaha Music Foundation and have evolved since then to reflect the best of new pedagogical thinking, while never compromising on quality.
YMSs are run by private operators and focus on the Music Foundation's acclaimed Junior Music Courses (JMC), starting with four-year-old beginners. YMS - now found all over the world, including the UK - has championed the ears-before-eyes learning approach, which is as natural as the way we all learned to speak and which is a central tenet of the core Yamaha Music Education System.
JMC teachers receive a high level of professional development from our key instructors, who themselves take part in regular shared European seminars, to ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning.

Yamaha Music Point
Yamaha Music Point (YMP) is Yamaha's music school brand with a focus more on our popular music courses. In the UK this includes keyboard (Play For Keeps & Junior Play For Keeps courses), guitar, drums and vocals. The Yamaha lessons they provide are designed to be fun but, at the same time, take students as far as they wish to go, towards the highest levels of musicianship.
Yamaha UK's partnerships with Trinity-Guildhall and with Rockschool examination boards have enabled us to develop bespoke examinations for our students, based on their Yamaha course materials, which lead to recognised UK qualifications and the associated UCAS points necessary for those applying for full-time courses at UK higher education institutions. The UK's YMP community teaches around 8,000 students every week, aged from around six years to well into retirement.
