On Friday, 4th September 2009, 19 of the music services in the north-west of England and 420 of their permanent and peripatetic music teaching staff gathered at the Hilton, Blackpool, for their 2009 Inset conference, 'Ideas, Inspiration and Tasters'.

Hosted by MusicLeader North West, the conference was the biggest music education conference of the year so far, with two outstanding keynote speakers (David Price OBE and Sir John Jones), 10 taster workshops and a 'Recorder Magic' session for all 420 delegates, with instruments supplied by Yamaha.

Tina Redford, Head of MusicLeader North West said, 'Having 420 music teachers playing the recorder together was a really fun way to start the day, so thanks, Yamaha!'

When delegates were asked, 'What's the main thing you'll take away from this to help your future practice?' they replied:

'I'm totally inspired by all I heard and ready to go out and hopefully make a difference.'
'Encouragement. Vision. Loads of new ideas.'
'Today reminded me why I do the job... and I loved the free recorder!'
