Royal College of Music features Yamaha percussion in showcase concert

Royal College of Music students performing on their new Yamaha percussion
David Hockings, head of percussion at the Royal College of Music (RCM) is presenting this year's RCM Percussion Showcase on 29 June, which will, for the first time, feature a new work for the College's American Drumline ensemble, performed on its recently purchased Yamaha high-tensioned marching drums, alongside a range of other exciting percussion performances. The public is welcome to attend and tickets can be purchased from the College.
This year's Showcase takes place in the RCM's recently refurbished Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall and will be presented in three parts starting at 6:30pm, with the second part at approximately 7:30 and the Finale at approximately 8:30.
Alongside the American Drumline ensemble there is a piece for basketballs, a concerto for eight Baroque timpani and string orchestra, a marimba concerto, with the percussion section featured as a backing choir, a work for four drum kits and not forgetting our topless Swiss student performing a piece for body percussion!
