Yamaha & the European Guitar Teachers Association unveil new bursary programme

Yamaha and the European Guitar Teachers Association have unveiled a new bursary programme that will help fund talented young guitarists facing financial hardship to participate in the association's highly acclaimed National Youth Guitar Ensemble annual course.

This year's course with be held at Queen Margaret's School, Escrick, York from 1-5 August 2011, ending with a concert at the Adrian Boult Hall, Birmingham on 5 August 2011. The programme will include Steve Reich's Electric Counterpoint and Dave Carroll's Con moto, senza moto, one of several pieces especially written for the ensemble. The soloist will be Gordon Dunn on electric guitar.

The National Youth Guitar Ensemble offers the highest standard of training and performance opportunities in the UK for young aspiring guitarists and the current residential programme offers 24 places to individuals who successfully pass an audition. Each year an internationally renowned artist is invited to perform with the ensemble.
