Yamaha was pleased to support for Music For Youth (MfY) at the 2009 London International Music Show (LIMS) in June, by supplying keyboards, drum kits, PA and a Yamaha Silent Bass, along with inspiring Yamaha artists and scholarship winners, to support MfY's first year running LIMS' Education Day.

The morning of Friday 12 June began at LIMS with the BiG GiG - an ambitious event which brought together around 500 young people to perform a specially written piece on a broad range of instruments. Yamaha's very visible contrubition included a sea of keyboards on one side of the performance space, which balanced the electric guitars and amps on the other and complemented Yamaha drum kits, world percussion and a whole range of other instruments, all used to great effect in this outstanding performance.Yamaha's activities during the day then included an Instant Blues workshop, led by Yamaha Jazz Experience workshop leader, Andrea Vicari (piano) and supported by Dorian Lockett (Silent Bass) and 2008 Yamaha Parliamentary Jazz scholar, John Randall (drums). The trio then moved to other venues to perform a range of jazz spots to entertain the young people and their teachers, including a well-received spot at the start of the MfY 'Mini Prom', presented by TV presenter, Dave Benson Phillips.

Yamaha's education liaison manager, Bill C Martin, told us: "Music For Youth aims to inspire young people by providing a range of exciting high-impact performance opportunities which showcase some of the UK's most promising young musical talent. Yamaha's own vision for education is to encourage more people to engage with music making, which we do through our collaborations with inspiring international music artists and educators and through our extensive scholarship programmes. There is no other creator of high quality instruments and equipment which span the musical genres. This means we can bring many key benefits to support and enhance MfY's key activities on a scale which is simply unavailable elsewhere. When you combine MfY and Yamaha you have immense power to inspire young musicians."

Congratulations to all at LIMS and MfY for a great event.
