MusicQuest 2007-2010 report from Yamaha

Yamaha Music UK has published its report on the acclaimed three-year MusicQuest programme, a collaboration between the Prince's Foundation for Children and the Arts, Classic FM, the Philharmonia Orchestra and Yamaha Music UK which took high quality classical music performance to primary schools throughout the UK between 2007 and 2010.
The report revisits the core aspirations of the project along with its achievements during a period of rapid change within the British music education scene.
The fact that MusicQuest received a music industry award in 2008 is one measure of the project's impact.
Key elements in its success included an exciting and inspiring workshop and concert tour led by Philharmonia musicians, under the baton of 'Kevin The Conductor' (Philharmonia percussionist Kevin Hathaway), and the opportunity for the children to have a go on high quality Yamaha musical instruments during a fun, informative workshop session led, in participating primary schools in five towns each year in England, Scotland and Wales, by individual members of the Philharmonia Orchestra.
Pictured here: a MusicQuest version of Ravel's Bolero being performed here, with a great sense of theatre by the Philharmonia musicians under the baton of Kevin Hathaway, in front of more than a thousand delighted Hull primary school children in January 2010
