Yamaha Explores New Dimensions with Acoustic Triangle
Yamaha Music UK has teamed up with pioneering jazz outfit Acoustic Triangle for a ground breaking national tour of some of England's most inspiring spaces with plans for joint education projects. The '3 Dimensions' tour will visit cathedrals and abbeys across the country, performing a series of new works composed specifically for the spaces. The acclaimed trio comprising Malcolm Creese on double bass, Tim Garland on saxophones, flute and bass clarinet and Gwilym Simcock on piano and French horn, have also drafted in six world class string players, the Sacconi Strings. The tour will merge brilliant music with magnificent architecture, delivering a unique aural and visual experience for audiences. Award-winning composers Tim Garland and Gwilym Simcock have written new works which are individually 'choreographed' for each building in order to create a series of custom performances. The nine players will be placed all around the audience, even above, creating an acoustic three-dimensional soundscape that allows the music to surprise, echo and develop in extraordinary ways. '3 Dimensions' is also released as a CD coinciding with the tour. Acoustic Triangle are producing some of the most compelling and accomplished music around today and the relationship with Yamaha instruments has been developed over many years the partnership now being extended to some joint educational projects and it's also hoped that workshop work can be built into some of the tours autumn dates. Malcolm Creese said "We are delighted that our colleagues at Yamaha have collaborated with us on this tour. We have a special relationship with Yamaha who share our aims of exploring new sonic boundaries, and we'll be developing our links into educational work in the future."
